Vrindavan, 2015.12.21 (VT): Vaikuntha Ekadashi was celebrated in Vrindavan with great pomp, when Thakur Shri Rangnath ji used the Vaikuntha Dwar to step out from the sanctum sanctorum to give darshan to his beloved devotees. On this day the gates of Vaikunth are kept open for spiritual aspirants to enter. The Vaikunth Dwar is the door which leads to Lord Vishnu’s abode. It only opens once in a year on the day of Vaikunth Ekadashi. It is believed that passing through this door on this day allows the devotees to attain Vaikunth.
Devotees thronged the temple since early morning to catch a glimpse of their Lord stepping out of the temple through the Vaikunth Dwar. The temple priests performed a special ceremony of worship, by placing the Lord on a palanquin and carried Him around the temple.
A large number of devotees who enthusiastically waited since 04:00 a.m chanted in glorification of Sri Rangnath Bhagwan, when the doors of Vaikuntha and the curtains were finally opened at 05:30. Sri Rangaji, followed by brahmanas chanting veda-mantras, and the visitors circumambulated the temple.
According to the holy scripts, the devotees that anyone who has darshana of the Lord on Vaikuntha Ekadashi, will have all his sins eradicated, be acquitted from the repeated cycle of birth and death, and go to Vaikuntha, the Lord’s abode, to live eternally.
