Vrindavan, 2015. 12.28 (VT): Vrindavan will attract large number of devotees on the occasion of the New Year. The police administration is making preparations to control the crowd in the pilgrimage town. The administration has geared up its intelligence apparatus to keep a tab on suspicious movement of people near the major temples.
The police personnel will guard every nook and corner of the town. A big number of police force will be deployed in the town. The district administration has drawn a traffic management plan for the New Year. One way traffic system will be introduced during this period. The number of police personnel to be deployed will be more than the previous year.
The devotees have started gathering in the town four days before the New Year. With each passing day the number of people visiting Vrindavan is increasing. They want to begin the year with the ‘darshan’ of their adored Lord. The hotels, dharmashalas and the ashrams have been booked from before.
The security plan has been made keeping Banke Bihari Temple at the centre stage. Though the security has been beefed in the whole town, but its concentration of crowd management will be focused around the Banke Bihari Mandir, Prem Mandir and Iskcon.
According to the Station House Officer at the Vrindavan Kotwali, Shri Uday Pratap Singh, Six SHOs, 125 constables, 3 TSI, 25 female constables and one company PAC personnel will be deployed for two days. He further informed that the additional force will be sent to Vrindavan on 30th December. No vehicle from outside will be allowed to enter the town on 31st December 2015 and 1st January 2016. The cars coming from outside Vrindavan will be parked in the temporary parking sites.
The Banke Bihari Temple management is also busy in making preparations for the New Year. The temple management is working hard to provide the best facilities for the devotees. But the management is concerned about regulating the crowd. They demanded police force for the temple, but so far no personnel has been provided from the administraton.
The temple has installed 35 CC TV cameras to combat the crimes of chain snatching, pick pocketing, theft, molestation etc. inside the temples. All the activities inside the temple will be closely watched from the control room. Twenty additional security guards from a private agency have been engaged to manage the crowd.
According to Munish Kumar Sharma, the Manager of the Banke Bihari Temple, a plan has been prepared for ten days beginning from 25th December to 3rd January to facilitate the devotees. “The arrangements inside the temple are under control, but we need help from the police administration to manage the crowd on these ten days at the corridor outside the temple and the lanes leading to the temple. Five days have passed, no constable has been provided to help us,” said Sharma.
