Vrindavan, 2018.01.10 (VT) From the 16th to 23rd January, Radha Shyamsundar temple in Sevakunj will celebrate several festivals including Vasant Panchmi, as well as Shyamsundar’s 441th appearance day festival, 439th marriage anniversary and 300th enthronement festival.
This year, the festivities are set to be bigger than ever and will include a Raas Lila in the temple grounds from 17th to 21st January from 4-7pm.
According to the temple’s tradition, Vrindavan’s Sri Shyamasundar (Shri Lala ji) was manifested from the lotus heart of Srimati Radharani, while the deity of his consort Shri Radha appeared in the royal treasury of the King of Bharatpur.. Shyamsundar’s appearance day is said to be Vasant Panchmi of 1578 A.D.
Devotees can also take the opportunity to visit the place where Shyamananda Prabhu discovered Radha Rani’s anklet (nupur). Renovation of the nupur shrine area began in 2012. Located close to Radha Shyamsundar temple, the area is also the location of Shyamananda Prabhu’s samadhi.
