Vrindavan, 28.02.10 (VT) In the wake of World Cancer Day, KD Group dentists provided free check ups for oral cancer on over 70 patients. The screening camp was held in the wake of World Cancer day, which was celebrated on 4th February to raise awareness about the need for early detection and prevention of cancer.
Dr. Aditi Sharma, Dr. Amarpal Bhalla, Dr. Jay Dutt Tiwari screened the patient and found 20 cases needing further investigation. Free oral cancer screening continue every Monday and Thursday at the hospital.
Over a million cases of oral cancer are detected each year in India. Many cases are caused by smoking and chewing tobacco, however, there are other factors that also increase the risk. Symptoms include a sore that doesn’t heal, a lump, a white or red patch on the inside of the mouth.
For many years now, KD Dental hospital and Dental College has been providing free and low cost dental check-ups and surgery to patients in Mathura-Vrindavan. The hospital is situated on the NH2 Highway between Mathura and Vrindavan and has been a godsend for people who cannot afford costly treatments such as root canal procedures, which can save teeth that would otherwise need to be extracted.
