Vrindavan, 2018.02.10 (VT) During a visit to the current cremation ground on Friday, Shailjakant Mishra, Vice President of the Braj Tirth Vikas Parishad (BTVP) said that all efforts will be made to speed up the construction of ‘Mokshadham’ – a fully modern cremation ground on the banks of the Yamuna.
‘Mokshadham’ is much needed to prevent the burning of bodies at different locations along the Yamuna and locals have been demanding its creation for at least two decades.
Mishra announced that the facilities will be upgraded to include electric lighting, covered areas and drinking water. MVDA Vice President Ms. Yashu Rustagi was also present. Both were in agreement that the ‘Mokshadham’ should be constructed, however, the project first needs to obtain clearance from the National Green Tribunal and Archaeology Department.
Braj’s NGOs have been active in the campaign to construct the ‘Mokshadham’. Representatives from Gareeb Ekata Dal, Golokadham Samiti and Braj Vrindavan Vriasat Foundation were present at the inspection.
