2018.03.09 A three day workshop is being held at Mathura Veterinary College is being applauded by students and teachers. The purpose of the workshop is to inform students about self-defense methods, safety precautions and the legal systems in place to protect women.
Most of the girls already knew about the women’s 1090 hotline number and police 100 number, but they were happy to get more information about safety and self defense.
The BJP has set up Anti-Romeo squads, which includes a police sub-inspector with at least two constables, including a woman. The squads patrols universities, colleges, cinema halls, parks and other public places identified as vulnerable for women.
Chief Officer Preeti Singh spoke to students about methods of dealing with harassment and the mentality of harassers. Officer Singh said that the UP Police organized the workshop on the occasion of Woman’s Day. She said that the purpose of the workshop is to encourage the public and police themselves to be more aware about women’s safety.
