Yamuna banks to be developed like Gomati

Vrindavan 2016.03.07 (VT): UP State Chief Agricultural Secretary Mr. Deepak Singhal inspected the progress of the Yamuna cleaning drive on Wednesday. Hoping for an increase in Yamuna tourism, he said that the Chief Minister of State Mr. Akhilesh Yadav is serious about the development of Vrindavan.

He said that that no stone will be left unturned to develop the sacred place of Vrindavan. State Government has decided to develop and beautify the banks of Yamuna in Vrindavan along the lines of the Gomati riverfront in Lucknow, for which the respective tasks will be delegated shortly.

Mr. Singhal reached Keshi Ghat on Wednesday, where he addressed issues like dim light and sanitation. He has also ordered the concerned department to prepare a blue print for developing the area. He also guided the District Magistrate Mr. Rajesh Kumar to make a proposal to be presented at National Green Tribunal, which will consist the guidelines provided by the Chief Minister.

Mr. Singhal also told the Municipal Corporation officials to study the sewer drainage system of Kolkata. He has expressed approval of the plan to develop the Parikrama Marg from Kalidah to Keshighat, from 50 metres from the river bank, where a cycle track, park and parking facilities will be built. He has also asked for the progressive report of the rubber dam construction in Yamuna, and to get a blue print ready for all other developments in three months.

Drainage Problem returns as soon as Chief Secretary leaves

Even after the commitments from the State Government, the negligence of the local bodies goes on as before. During the inspection by the Chief Agricultural Secretary Mr. Deepak Singhal, the main drain at Chirghat was closed, but as soon as he left, all the effluent was allowed to pour into the Yamuna once again.

BJP President Mr. Amit Shah met Saint Ritambara on Wednesday at Vatsalya Gram in Vrindavan and discussed about the Yamuna issue. Mr. Shah said that all the sewers falling in the holy rivers of Ganga and Yamuna should be shut down. He also said that the holy river of Ganga can only become clean if the Yamuna and its other tributaries are made clean.
