Vrindavan 2016.04.18 (VT): RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, who was in Vrindavan for two days, visited the Bankey Bihari temple on Saturday. The temple heads met the RSS chief and informed him about the government plan to take over the Bankey Bihari temple. (See here and here.) They told Mr. Bhagwat that it’s a question of Hindu pride and that they needed the support of the RSS.

Mohan Bhagwat reached Nidhivan Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m, where District RSS Chief Das Bihari Agarwal recounted the legends and history of Nidhivan and the discovery of Bankey Bihari. The RSS leader then went for darshan of Bankey Bihari at the temple. He did aarti of Bankey Bihari and offered a prayer for world peace.

After that, the temple heads met him and informed about the decision of Samajwadi (“Socialist”) Party-led State Government , to acquire the temple. The Vice President of the Bankey Bihari organizing committee, Ghanshyam Goswami, and member Rajat Goswami told Mr. Bhagwat they had tried so many times to reach him on this issue, but never got the opportunity to meet him.

Ghanshyam Goswami asked for the support of RSS Chief to which he responded in a positive way. Mr. Bhagwat said that the Bankey Bihari temple is the symbol of Hindu devotion, and it will not be allowed to fall into the hands of the secular Government.

“We are with you,” Bhagwat said when Ghanshyam Goswami and Rajat Goswami raised the issue.

Bhagwat also said he would talk to Union Minister Uma Bharti about the “pathetic” state of Yamuna due to pollution. He also interacted with several noted saints during his visit.

“He has tried to unite the saints of Vrindavan so that the voice of Brijbhumi may be properly projected at the meeting of spiritual leaders at the Sinhastha Kumbha, which starts in Ujjain from April 22,” a VHP leader said.
