Vrindavan, 2016.04.16 (VT): This year Lord Ramacandra’s appearance day fell on April 15th. This is one of the major festivasls at the Krishna-Balaram temple, as it was on Ram Naumi that A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada inaugurated the worship of Sri Sri Gaura Nitai, Krishna Balaram and Radha Shyamasundara.
Observations began the day before in the afternoon with a special shobha yatra, a procession of the three sets of Utsava Murtis (small deities) carried on palanquins by devotees accompanied by kirtan. They visited all the different temple departments, Srila Prabhupadas house, his Samadhi and the Gurukula, and finished with an offering of arati in the MVT gardens.
On Friday, the deities were given shringar of new outfits and this was followed by the recollections of different devotees who were present at the installation in 1975. Among those sharing their memories were Satyanarayan Prabhu, Banabhatta Prabhu, Daivi Shakti Mataji and Dadhibaksha Prabhu.
Then at 10:15 came the elaborate abhishek of all the small deities in the main temple room. The program culminated in kirtan and the Raj Bhog arati, and a grand feast was served to all comers at 1:30.
In the evening there was a cultural presentation of dance and drama related to Lord Ramachandra’s pastimes in the Balaram Hall.
Most of the temple activities of the Krishna-Balaram temple are available live on Vrindavan TV.
