Vrindavan 2016.06.20 (VT): The city of Radha Rani is all set to celebrate International Yoga Day on June 21st 2016. The organising committee is putting all efforts to invite as many people as it can for practicing Yoga on this occasion, which will be from morning 5 a.m. to 7 a.m.
The first International Yoga Day was declared by the United Nations last year after lobbying by PM Narendra Modi. This celebration of yoga will take place from now on every year on June 21st. Indian citizens are being encouraged to pledge a commitment to a daily practice of yoga, and so for the official website of the Health Ministry shows that more than 100,000 people have taken the pledge. Events are being staged all over the country as Indian citizens take pride in one of Indian civilization’s great contributions to the world is given a place of honor.
The city can be seen as getting prepared for it, as the banners and posters about yoga classes can be seen everywhere. Various people are organising yoga classes tomorrow to spread the benefits of yoga. Bharat Development Association also organised a three day Yoga session at DAV school in which people practiced yoga under the guidance of teacher Dr. Devvrat Khandelwal.
Yoga Camps in Mathura
North Central Railways India Scouts and Guides has organised Yoga Fest from June 20 to 22 in the training centre at Mathura Junction railway station. Around 150 people from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Northern Railways, Eastern Railways, Kendriya Vidyala Schools, Navodaya School will participate in these yoga classes for three days. An awareness rally will also be hosted to spread awareness about yoga.
The BJP Women’s Front is also hosting a yoga camp at the Birla temple from June 20 to 22. The camp will be under the guidance of association chairwoman Ms. Meera Mittal.
Gandhi Park at Kosikalaan is also hosting a one-day yoga camp tomorrow starting from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m.
Military personnel from Mathura Cantt to take part
Military personnel and their families will take part in yoga camps to be organised at different stations of the Strike 1 Corps on the occasion of International Yoga Day.
“International Yoga Day will be celebrated by Strike 1 in Mathura Cantt and all of its formations at several different military stations in Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab,” army spokesperson Col Sharad Shukla said.
Yoga classes will be conducted and a major event in which all ranks and their families will take part will be held on June 21. It is expected that more than 12-15,000 persons will attend the event, he said.
A majority of army troops will participate on the occasion for which preparations are underway, he said.
