Mathura 2016.07.20 (VT): “Adarsh Mathura,” a city administration campaign to make Mathura a model city, will be kick started from the Holi Gate area today. It will address issues like parking spaces, drainage system maintenance, road maintenance, illegal encroachment of footpaths and government land, similar signage, hanging electricity wires, waste management, traffic management, street animal problems, shifting of transformers, etc. in the areas excluded from the Heritage City development plans.

The Holi Gate area, Kotwali road and Kotwali crossing, Arya Samaj Road till railway crossing and agra road till Rangeshwar post office are included initially in the campaign. District Magistrate Nikhil Chandra Sukhla inspected these areas earlier this week to check the scope of work involved in the campaign. A meeting also held yesterday to finalise the campaign structure. ADM (Revenue) Ravindra Kumar, MVDA Secretary Vijay Kumar, Cit Magistrate Ram Araj Yadav, Assistant Engineer Amit Kadiyan and Architect Mayank Garg participated in the meeting and later on inspected the marked areas.

ADM (Revenue) also inspected the public utilities constructed near Holi Gate and found the material used for construction to be of inferior quality. He filed a complaint against the contractor who built this public utility centre, for which the Police has yet to take an action.

The Municipal Corporation, Police department, Electricity Board, Public Works Department and Telecom Department have also been connected to the campaign for an organised development. ADM Revenue has already given a detailed project report for the project so that the development work can start soon.
