Vrindavan 2016.07.23 (VT): A problem that Rasik Pagal Baba was having with an electrical contractor was taken to Banke Bihariji for a resolution, but the temple organising committee is unhappy with the outcome and has expressed its displeasure with the Babaji.
A few days ago, a contractor from the Electricity Board, Tarachand, extorted a bribe of Rs. 50,000 from Gyan Das, a disciple of famous bhajan singer Baba Rasika Pagal. He took the bribe to resolve the issue of faulty electricity connections at Baba’s ashram in Godhulipuram. The money was paid while Babaji was absent.
The contractor claimed that the ashram’s connections were illegal and that some gift was needed to smooth the way.
When Babaji got to knew about it, he was incensed as the electricity connections are all legal in the ashram and he had all the papers ready to challenge the contractor’s false allegations.
He took Tarachand with him to Thakur Ji’s temple to resolve it in front of Bihari ji, “like in the old days,” he said. “With God as our witness and judge.”
After thrashing out the issue in front of the Thakurji, the accused Tarachand admitted the wrong and paid back the 50,000 rupees by placing it on the doorsteps of the temple. The money was collected by Ravi Khurana, another disciple of Baba Rasika Pagal and so the issue was resolved between both the parties.
But the temple committee took the matter seriously saying that it is inappropriate to involve the temple in personal disputes. This makes a mockery of the old tradition and culture, which is not acceptable. Committee chairman Nand Kishor Upmanyu said that the committee will examine the matter and take necessary actions accordingly.
Administrative officer of the temple committee Dinesh Goswami said both the parties involved in the dispute have offended Banke Bihariji. He said that whatever is kept inside the temple is the property of the temple, including the 50,000 rupees placed by Tarachand on the doorstep.
Vice chairman Rajat Goswami said that Baba Rasika Pagal or his disciples had no right to take the money from the temple entry way without the permission of the organising committee. The committee will review the whole case again and will take legal action against Baba Rasika Pagal and the contractor Tarachand accordingly.
