Mathura 2016.07.27 (VT): Heavy rainfall for around an hour gave some relief from the hot and humid weather previously. Residents of Mathura felt relief as Lord Indra showed some mercy to them. But hour long rainfall resulted in water logging at many places at the time when city is already facing problem from choked drainage systems.

The day was bright and sunny in the morning yesterday, but as the noon approached, rain clouds surrounded the sky and poured heavy rainfall for an hour. Heavy humidity in the morning was reduced by the rainfall giving relief to locals.

Bhuteshwar and Chandanvan in Mathura city experienced heavy rainfall, whereas rest of the city, Govardhan and Vrindavan area only had mild showers. Holy gate area was water logged after heavy rainfall choking the already choked drains further. Children returning from schools were also forced to stop and look for cover in the rain, as in some places water was  as much as 3 feet deep. The situation also resulted in heavy traffic congestion which lasted late into the night.

Water also entered in the new bus-stand at Mathura and houses and shops on ground floor around it. Rainfall stopped the traffic for an hour which resulted in traffic jams at many places in the city.
