Vrindavan, August 10, 2016: After several visits by the World Bank Officials and the higher officials from the State Tourism Department, the proposal for building the Heritage Corridor in Vrindavan got their approval. The building of the ‘path way’ will begin sometime in the next month of September.
In an initiative to attract more tourists in Vrindavan, the tourism department conceptualized the plan of the ‘Heritage Corridor’ to connect 13 heritage temples of the town. The path way for the heritage walk will be walkers’ friendly as no vehicle will be allowed in the entire corridor.
One can get to know the temple town and its intricacies even as a stranger for taking a guided Heritage Walk around the old city of Vrindavan. The special features of Vrindavan are the ancient temples, the small lanes, the old markets, the ghats, the archeological monuments and the gaushalas. To experience the glory of Vrindavan, it is necessary to walk through the narrow lanes and truly observe the nature of its architecture, its art, religious places, its culture and traditions.
The ‘Heritage Walk’ will begin from the ancient Madan Mohan Mandir and will end in the Gandhi Park, near the office of the Vrindavan Municipality. The path way will have signage of the places to visit and the paintings related to the pastimes of Lord Krishna.
According to the District Tourism Officer, Shri Anupam Shrivastava, “the tiles to be used to pave the ‘path way’ will have the same size, pattern and color.” The project to be funded by the World Bank will have all the basic facilities including the Public convenience, clean drinking water, benches and street lights etc.
