Vrindavan 2016.08.09 (VT): After the National Green Tribunal (NGT) censured the Vrindavan Municipal Corporation (VMC) for its inaction against polluters, some action is finally being taken. The VMC Health Department inspected many areas in Vrindavan and penalised many individuals found guilty of befouling the holy city.
The health department team conducted surprise inspections in Gaura Nagar, Gopinath Bazaar, Purana Bazaar and Raman Reti road. During the inspection, they caught many shopkeepers as well as local residents openly throwing garbage on the streets and in the drains.
A total of 38 shopkeepers and households were ticketed and sent to Mathura court to pay the fine. Photo evidence incriminating other offenders was also submitted to the court by the health department.
The Mathura court also responded quickly by issuing summons to those who were found guilty. Some areas also witnessed civil insurrection against the VMC for penalising the people.
Vrindavan Today applauds the action of the Municipal Corporation and hopes that the authorities do not weaken their resolve in the face of opposition by those who are ready to desecrate our holy town out of laziness or ignorance. Jai Radhe.
