Delegation met Minister to demand train between Vrindavan and Nabadweep

New Delhi/ Vrindavan, 2016.08.12 (V.T.): A delegation of the Braj Vrindavan HerDSC_0007itage Alliance met the Union Minister for Tourism & Culture Dr. Mahesh Sharma to demand a regular Superfast train between Shri Vrindavan and Nabadweep Dham . The delegation led by Shri Tamal Krishna Das Brahmachari met the minister at his office in Transport Bhawan, in New Delhi.

Shri Tamal Krishna Das Brahmachari informed the Minister, “there is a vast scope of tourism promotion if a new train is run between Vrindavan and Nabadweep. Thousands of people visit Vraja from Bengal every year. But there are no superfast train connecting Bengal with Mathura.”
Jagannath Poddar, the Director of Friends of Vrindavan said, “Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s 5th Centennial of Vrindavan Advent is being celebrated by his followers. It would be pertinent for the Government of India to announce a new train between these two religious centers, in order to pay tribute to the Great proponent of the Bhakti movement.”

Social activist Madhumangal Shukla said, “Not only a DSC_0003large number of tourists visit Vraja-Vrindavan from Bengal, but people from Vraja also visit Nabadweep, Mayapur and Kolkata every year. Many international tourists and devotees also commute to Bengal from Vrindavan. It will be in the interest of the tourism development to announce a new superfast train connecting ‘Shri Dham Nabadweep’, the birthplace of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu with Mathura, the birth place of Lord Shri Krishna.”

Shri Subal Das, from the Gaudiya Mission demanded that the train should be named as ‘Chaitanya Rath’, to commemorate Mahaprabhu’s 500th anniversary of Vrindavan arrival.

At the end the Minister assured the delegation that he would recommend the ‘proposal’ to the Ministry of Railways. He informed the delegation that his ministry has recently given Rs. 150 crore for the tourism development of Vraja.
