Mathura, Aug 18 (VT) Calling the Centre’s initiatives for cleaning the Yamuna under the Namami Gange project as historic, Mathura MP Hema Malini said the river is “bound to become clean” after its completion.
The work on the project worth Rs 40 crore was inaugurated in Vrindavan on Wednesday in the presence of Union ministers Nitin Gadkari, Uma Bharti and Dharmendra Pradhan. Many different projects were announced, but the new STP to recycle waste water for use by the Refinery was at the centre of the announcements.
In Vrindavan to participate in the ceremony, Ms. Malini emphasized that the role of Rashtriya Swachch Ganga Mission (The National Mission for a Clean Ganga), which is undertaking the massive cleaning of the Yamuna as a part of its task. “The nation-wide project will begin with Mathura,” she said.
“Mant will soon enjoy the fruits of this effort in the form of clean water for agriculture and other such purposes thanks to Indian Oil and Mathura Refinery,” she wrote on Twitter.
Hema added: “This is such an important moment for Mathura! Everyone has been waiting for clean water for ages and at last it’s going to be a reality! People have been complaining about the pitiable condition of the Yamuna. However, once this project is completed, the river is bound to become clean.”
She said she was happy that the promise she had made to sages and the citizens was finally going to materialise. She offered sincere thanks to all concerned for their great efforts in making the dream of a clean Yamuna a reality. She especially thanked Ministers Nitin Gadkariji, Uma Bhartiji, and Dharmender Pradhanji for their roles in pushing the project forward.
