Vrindavan 2016.09.16 (VT): Celebrations of Ganesh Chaturthi concluded yesterday with the immersion of Lord Ganesh statues in Yamuna yesterday, but have lead to other issues. According to Allahabad High Court orders, flowing statues in Yamuna is ban, but devotees broke all laws at Keshi Ghat, Shringar Vat and other riverfront yesterday.
Flowing of Lord Ganesh statue started yesterday early morning and ran throughout the day till late evening. Devotees, full of zeal and enthusiasm, kept flowing the statues in the holy river despite court’s order which was planned to save the river from any pollution.
Following the orders from Allahabd High Court, Vrindavan Municipal Corporation created a pit to bury all the idols at Shringar Vat. But the efforts failed as the city administration didn’t spread the awareness amongst the devotees who used other riverfronts to immerse the statues as tall as 10 feet.
Police and LIU teams were also absent from the riverfronts to stop the mob polluting the river. EO T.N.Chaubey said that the Municipal Corporation created a pit at Keshi Ghat also but it was filled by water later on.
