Vrindavan 2016.09.16 (VT): Vaman Jayanti, the Divine appearance day of Lord Vaman was celebrated at the Krishna Balaram Mandir, Iskcon with great fervor on Tuesday. Amid the chanting of the Vedic Mantras, Bhajan and Kirtan, special ritual of Mahabhishek of the Salagram Shila, was performed.

The Vaman Yajna was performed in the temple, where 108 auspicious names of Lord Vamana was chanted during the Yajna. The devotees sang the dashavatara strotram ‘Chalayasi-vikrmane-balim-adbhuta-vamana, pada-nakha-nira-janita-jana-paavana, Keshava Dhrita Vamana Rupa jaya jagadisha hare. The devotees kept fast for the entire day and observed Vaman Dwadashi. The fasting of ekadashi and dwadashi were observed together. Since morning the devotees gathered in the temple and performed the rituals to please Lord Vaman to get their desires fulfilled.
According to the spokesman of the Iskcon Temple, Shri Sachi Goura Sundar Das, “Vaman Jayanti is celebrated with full vigor every year on ‘Shukla Paksha’ (waxing moon period), of the Bhadrapad month. Lord Vaman is the fifth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, the protector and preserver of life. The holy books of Shrimad Bhagvatam and Vishnu Puran describes the glory and magnificence of Lord Vaman.”
The other temples of Vrindavan also celebrated the appearance day of the Lord. The community organizations of Brahmins celebrated this day by taking out the procession of Lord Vaman and awarding senior Brahmins.
