Devotees donated food and money to sants, poor, animals and needy person to get the blessings for their ancestors. Priests reached the ghats early in the morning yesterday to help the devotees do “tarpan or shradh” (rituals) for their ancestors. Later on the devotees started donating food, clothes, money, etc. as per the rituals.
A per the Hindu calendar, Pitur Paksh will end on Oct 1. By that time the rituals on the ghats will keep running to help the devotees pay their homage to their deceased ones.
