Mathura 2016.09.27 (VT): MP from Mathura Hema Malini visited yesterday to attend the “Beti Mahotsav” (Girl Child Celebration) at Kosikalan. During the event, she rebuked on the people who have conservative thinking and who still think a girl child as a curse. She said that our society too gives the mantra of “yatra nari pujyate, ramante tatra devta” which means one who worships women is blessed by gods.
Hema Malini reached Maharshi Dayanand Bhavan at Arya Nagar yesterday to inaugurate the “Beti Mahotsav”. Addressing the crowd during the occasion, Shrimati Hema Malini said that the time has come to bury the conservative thinking which has costed the lives of crores of girl child.
She further said that the society needs to stand for the progress of girls. The cases of dowry are reducing day by day, because of the strict laws and Police effectiveness. Giving the example of her own family, Ms. Malini said that her mother got married at the age of 13, but Ms. Malini’s father was a responsible husband as he made sure that his wife will become a postgraduate and become a teacher. Ms. Malini further said that she herself is a proud mother of two daughters.
Addressing the crowd, Ms. Malini said that nowadays husband and wife both are earning in metro cities, and the rest of the nation has to replicate it. Ms. Malini also unveiled the statue of Swamni Vivekanand during the event.
