_mgl9231Vrindavan, 2016.10.13 (VT): Padmashree Geeta Chandran drenched the audience in Krishna Bhakti through her performance on Thursday. As a part of three days series of ‘Sankirtanotsava’, Padmashree Geeta Chandran and her associates Dr. Sneha Chakradhar, Shranya Chandran and others from the ‘Natya Vriksha’, presented a classical performance at Gambhira, in Jai Singh Ghera.
In a series of events to commemorate the arrival of Shri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in Vrindavan 501 years back, a three days long devotional event was organized by Shri Chaitanya Prema Samsthana, under the direction of Acharya Shrivatsa Goswami ji Maharaj.
Through song and dance with joy, the performance sought to reiterate the eternal values associated with Lord Krishna and his incarnation Lord Chaitanya. The performance was based on classical dance of Bharatnatyam.
The first performance was based on Meera Bai’s Bhajan_mgl8261
“ālī! mhāne lāge vṛndāvana nīko
ghara ghara tulasī, ṭhākura pūjā, darśana govindajī ko
ālī! mhāne lāge vṛndāvana nīko

The performers kept the audience enthralled through their graceful and impeccable performances. Drenched in the eternal love for the Lord, the troupe next performed on the lyrics of Poet Jaydev’s Gita Govindam, “dhīra-samīre yamunā-tīre vasati vane vanamālī |gopī-pīna-payodhara-mardana-caṃcala-karayuga-śālī .”
They also performed on the ‘Rasa’ lila lyrics written by Shri Hit Harivams and other poets of 16th Century.
In his address to the audience Acharya Shrivatsa Goswami said, “Hare Krishna Mahamantra is the gift to the human kind by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Harinam is the most powerful Yajna in Kaliyuga. The Holy name of the Lord certainly gives liberation, but the holy name of Krishna transports one to the other side of the ocean of nescience and at last gives one ecstatic love of Krishna.”_mgl8324
