Vrindavan, 2016.10. 29 (VT): Shri Ramesh Baba’s Braj Yatra reached Vrindavan on Saturday and camped on the bank of Yamuna. The Forty days long Radha Rani Braj 84 Kos Yatra (Vraja Parikrama) has provided a platform for the Yamuna Bhakts to be united and coming together to for the cause of saving Yamuna.
The annual Braj Yatra is organized under the auspices of Shri Ramesh Baba ji Maharaj, from Varsana’s Man Mandir. This year the Yatra is dedicated for the Yamuna Muktikaran Abhiyan, under which massive protest for the release of Yamuna is scheduled from December 17th onward.
Several Brajwasis, saints and devotees met Ramesh Baba and his associates to strategize getting Yamuna released from the Hathini Kund barrage, where it is captivated. The entire area up to several kilometers after the Hathini Kund barrage is dry, where Yamuna flows. Thus not a single drop of Yamuna reaches Braja except in the rainy season.
They chalked out plan for the upcoming Protest in which 15000 devotees from the Braj Yatra will also participate. The reasons for which the previous march couldn’t succeed were also reviewed.
Awareness for ‘Yamuna Muktikaran’ is being spread in every villages and towns of Braj, from where the yatra is passing through. Harinam Sankirtan, Public meetings, people-to-people contact is being organized during the Yatra to educate people about the significance of Yamuna.
On Saturday the Yatra went to Belvan, Cheer Ghat and Keshi Ghat in Vrindavan. A group of devotees led by Shri Pankaj Baba met Shri Rajendra Das ji Maharaj and Shri Vijay Kaushal.
Shri Rajendra Das ji Maharaj said that the spiritual form of Yamuna is always pure and not affected by the pollution. But we live in earthly world, and can see the Yamuna is polluted. We can’t tolerate it anymore. The government must check the pollution in Yamuna and it must be released immediately.”
“Our march will be dedicated for clean and pure Yamuna. The demand of the march will include the release of a minimum quantity of water into the Yamuna round the year from the Hathini Kund barrage, some 100 km upstream of New Delhi, and effective checks on drains in the national capital that dump pollutants, effluents and sewer waste into the river – literally turning into one huge drain,” said Shri Rajendra Das ji Maharaj.
Eminent Yamuna activist Shri Gopeshwar Nath Chaturvedi said, “Yamuna has been the respiratory of arts, culture, architecture, history and Hinduism’s Bhakti movement. Millions of rupees have gone down the gutter in the two Yamuna Action Plans which have not made any discernible change to the river system that sustains life and agriculture affecting millions of people in the three states of Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.”
Shri Radha Kant Shashtri, the National President of the Yamuna Muktikaran Abhiyan said, “We have pledged to get Yamuna released from Hathini Kund. A massive protest will be organized in December. This protest will be first of its type in the world history for saving any river. We are seeking support from all the religious leaders, social organizations, political leaders and the devotees to join us in the protest.” “The government has to listen to our genuine demand. It is now or never,” said Shri Radha Priya, the National Coordinator of the campaign.
