Mathura, 2017.05.23 (VT, AU): In a commendable effort this weekend at Mathura Junction Railway Station, four special teams were formed to check the tickets of passengers travelling via Mathura.
Between Sunday afternoon and Monday, 824 people were caught riding without tickets. The effort brought an estimated income of 3.70 lakhs (370,000) in fines for Indian Railways.
The teams, led by Indian Railway Traffic Service officers DCM Sanchit Tyagi and STI Ashok Ji were able to thoroughly check more than a dozen trains, focusing on finding stowaways in the general coaches, women’s coaches, and disabled persons coaches.
