Radhakund (VT): The village of Mukherai near Radhakund is historically the home of Mukhara Devi, Shri Radharani’s Nani (maternal grandfather). In the modern day, it is famous for the charkula dance, a traditional folk dance of Braj, which attracts many visitors to the village during the Holi festival.
The small and gorgeous village is surrounded by lush fields and beautiful large trees filled with singing peacocks. There is a sweet little temple there, where one can have the darshan of Radharani with her mother, Kirtida, and grandmother, Mukhara Ji.
Just next to the temple is a beautiful and pristine kund, with stone steps leading down to the water, and several small temples surrounding it. The Government of India’s Ministry of Rural Development will soon begin a beautification project to enhance the pilgrimage’ experience here.
The Ministry’s plan includes planting 1,100 trees and bushes along the village’s parikrama marg. The sacred pathway will also be conservatively paved with interlocking cement bricks, and electric lights will be installed along the path. The village Panchayat has pledged its full cooperation and support for the project
