Mathura, 2017.06.03 (VT): A group of young people in Mathura have started a “roti bank” to combat hunger in the district. The service, which is just beginning, is inspired by the roti bank of Bundelkhand, which made national news in 2015.
Yogesh Sharma and his team collect rotis for their “bank” from local residents and use them to prepare food packets with sabji to distribute to the poor. At present, citizens can “deposit” rotis at Agrawal Seva Sadan near Bharatpur Gate.
The official launch of the roti bank will be held at noon on June fourth and inaugurated by Mathura DM Arvind Malappa Bangari at the Mathura Junction Railway Station.
