Mathura 2015.12.11 (Press Trust of India, Business Standard) : Brij Development Board, a legally constituted body by the Uttar Pradesh Govt for ensuring integrated development of Brijbhumi region, would become properly functional by the end of this financial year, officials said today.
Owing to the influx of pilgrims, the Board’s initial concentration would be on the development of Vrindaban, Mathura and Goverdhan. However, the gradual development of other pilgrim centres of the region will also be taken up.
“The green signal has been given to a ropeway in Barsana after including that city in Mathura Vrindaban Development Authority,” Principal Secretary, Housing UP, Sadakant told reporters.
“The board will consist of 12 members, including two from the private sector. It will also plan, monitor and assess the quality of development. While a district-level committee would be headed by R D Paliwal as the CEO, the state-level committee would be chaired by the Chief Minister himself. It will be an independent board for the development of Brijbhumi,” he said.
So far there was a “hurdle” in accepting “donations” for development, from philanthropists or donors, however, with the formation of the board, this hurdle has been cleared.
“The area of the board, initially will be limited to Mathura. However, depending on our progress there, other areas of Brij falling in neighbouring districts may be taken up later,” he added.
“Except for a district-level plan, the work of developmental grants of different departments would come under the board’s umbrella,” he said.
It has been decided to increase number of approach roads for Vrindaban. Green signal has been given to 20 roads of Mathura district, including Chatikara Yamuna Bridge Road and Jait to Sunarakh road.
“The installation of LED, for preventing accidents on two bridges of the Yamuna, separate parking zones for tractor and jugad in Vrindaban have also been cleared in the meeting of Mathura Vrindaban Development Authority today,” he said.
District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar and Vice-Chairman of Mathura Vrindaban Development authority C P Singh were also present on the occasion.
