Clik here to view.Vrindavan, 2012. 12.11 (VT): Protest against the Banke Bihari Mandir takeover by the government getting stronger with each passing day. The Samajwadi Party government is gradually taking measures to takeover the Bankebihari and Vindhyavasini Devi Temples from all directions even as Hindu activists, temple workers, and priests are vehemently protesting against this.
Wednesday evening, the Bankebihari temple witnessed the presence of Entertainment Minister Madan Chauhan who had to face loud slogans against the Samajwadi Party. Protesters vowed to not allow any government authority into the temple premises. Ghanashyama Gosvami said that until the Samajwadi Party withdraws their malicious scheme against the temple, every VIP will be greeted similarly. However, there are others in support of this move by the government with the opinion that it will better facilitate the worship and pilgrims.
Several social organizations have endorsed full support to the temple management in the protest. The Senanivritta Shikshak Sangh (The retired teachers Association) has vowed full support in every way to the Gosvamis. In the past six days, several social organizations have endorsed full support to the Temple management. VHP leader Gopeshvar Chaturvedi said it is only when the older students and teachers lend support to the cause that their students from all over the country will participate, thus making it a large-scale agitation in the protection of religion. Another social activist Ramesh Pujari has also begun a fast until death on the Vidyapeetha Chauraha.
“Many temples and institutions in India are losing their eminence due to several inconveniences that crept up over time. The government must do whatsoever to protect such temples but their focus is only on those that collect massive donations”, said Dinesh ji, the International Head of the Vishva Hindu Parishad, who joined the protest. The government was accused of abusing the funds collected from temples, and not facilitating conveniences in temple and pilgrim management.
Since the Hindu scriptures are well known to respect all other religions, the protesters have sought support from even other religious institutions against the unlawful takeover by the government. Dinesh ji also warned the government to beware against any further move as it will severely backfire with a nationwide agitation and turmoil.
