Vrindavan, 2016.01.24 (VT): The New traffic plan was strictly executed on the weekends of Saturday and Sunday. The district authorities kept close eye on the execution of the new arrangement.
The Vehicles coming from outside Vrindavan were stopped on the entrance of the town. Only local vehicles which obtained the pass were allowed to enter town. Those locals who couldn’t get the pass preferred to ride on their bikes.
It should be noted that Vrindavan gets overcrowded on every weekend and on the holidays, as a big number of tourists visit Vrindavan from Delhi and NCR. The commuter in Vrindavan had to go through harrowing experience due to the traffic jam.
The new plan brought relief from the traffic congestion and the residents were happy, whereas those visitors who weren’t aware of the new traffic plan found themselves in difficulty.
As per the directions gotten from the state government the district administration prepared a traffic plan for the weekends. The vehicles coming from outside of Vrindavan were stopped since 6 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The ban on entry was lifted after 9 p.m.
The traffic coming from the Yamuna Expressway was stopped at the crossing near the bridge on Yamuna. Those who followed the Mathura – Vrindavan Road were stopped near Pagal Baba Temple. The vehicles were stopped at the Annapurna Parking, near the P.L. Saraf Hospital on the Chhatikara Vrindavan Road. The visitors commuted to the town on the public transport (mini buses) provided by the city administration. The option of hiring autos and e-rickshaws were also made available. Most of the visitors preferred to hire the private autos and the e-rickshaws in comparison of the mini buses.
The shortage of the e-rickshaws and the autos were clearly felt, as the number of the three wheelers were not enough to transport the people from the car parking. People were seen walking carrying their baggage. The handicapped devotees were also seen being carried on the wheel chairs to the temple.
The City magistrate and the Sub divisional magistrate made frequent visits to the entrance of the town where the vehicles were being stopped. A large number of police constables were also present in each entrance. The new system was monitored and reported to the higher authorities.
The local trade has also affected due to the new arrangement. The visitors hired the three wheelers and directly went to the Bank Bihari Temple and returned back to the parking. They didn’t stop either on the Prem Mandir or Iskcon which fall on the route. The traders near those temples were affected.
The parking inside the town also remained empty. The parking places at Vidyapeeth Chouraha, VIP road parking, Kishor Pura parking, Rangji Mandir parking, Gandhi Marg parking didn’t have many vehicles parked inside them.
