Vrindavan 2016.07.12 (VT): Residents of Imli Gali, located near famous Goda Vihar temple, are living in a state of terror these days. Walls of more than half a dozen houses developed cracks recently. These walls can fall anytime causing life threats to locals staying there.
Residents say that the poor condition of drainage system and sewer lines underneath the area is causing cracks in the walls. Complaints have already been made with the Municipal Corporation several times but no action has been taken yet.
The drainage system is growing old in the city and needs exhaustive repairing throughout. Imli gali located at Gopeshwar road is suffering badly from it, as 9 houses till now have developed cracked and can fall anytime. Three out these 9 houses were built last month itself, but have developed crack because of the drainage system underneath the ground is slipping from the original location. These cracks are developed from ground till terrace, due to which rain water is flooding houses in the season.
A resident of the locality said that the sewer lines are more than 40 years old and are hardly maintained. The pipes are full of squalor because of which drain water is flowing near the foundation of houses weakening it. This caused slipping of the foundation from original location causing cracks in the houses. Some houses have bigger cracks due to which roof and walls can fall anytime causing life damage to the residents.
Locals said that they have made many complaints in the past years but are still waiting for the solution. Chairman at Vrindavan Municipal Corporation Mukesh Gautam said that he has personally inspected the locality and actions will be taken soon. He said that he has already guided the concerned department to clean and repair the sewer lines so that the problem can be solved.
