Vrindavan 2016.07.12 (VT): Sants from Ayodhya have started an on-line campaign to support the building of the Lord Ram temple in that holy city. Many sants and RSS members have already joined the campaign supporting the cause.
In order to support the on-line campaign, sants and Hindu activists from Ayodhya have started a campaign on What’s App called “tirpal se mandir nirman” (“from tarpaulin to temple”). The What’s App campaign has been started by Swami Devswaroopanand of So’ham Ashram and B.S. Tripathi, a Hindu activist. The recently formed group already has 165 members in it.
At present the deities of Lord Ram in his birthplace have been installed in a shanty covered by a torn tarpaulin. The group members put pressure on the DM of Faizabad through locals of that city to replace that tarpaulin with a new one. The State Government also helped get the change done. Ayodhya is a part of Faizabad district in Uttar Pradesh.
Sants have been using Facebook to invite new members to support the campaign. In order to raise awareness they are circulating pictures online comparing Devi Sita sitting in the beautiful Sita Mata temple located at Janakpuri, Nepal, to Lord Ram sitting under a tarpaulin in Ayodhya. The photo is supported by the hash tag #JagoHindustani, which also comments on the current situation of Hindus in India.
Swami Devswaroopanand said that social media is a nice tool to spread awareness about any cause. He further said that seeing the enthusiasm of the group members, he is sure that soon a temple will be developed in Ayodhya as well.
Recently at the Ujjain Kumbha Mela, sants from around India announced they would begin construction of a new Ram temple in Ayodhya on November 9th this year. But the dispute over the Ram Janmabhoomi is far from over and any attempt to build a temple at this point is likely to be a flashpoint for trouble.
