Vrindavan 2016.08.04 (VT): The city administration and Vrindavan police are all set to tackle security and congestion problems in the city as Hariyali Teej approaches. Outside vehicles will not be permitted to enter the city starting on Thursday evening to avoid traffic and parking problems in the twon.
Because of the problem of people drowning in the fast flowing river, bathing in Yamuna will also be banned for four days except at Keshi Ghat.
Police have sealed the city borders from Thursday on the occasion of Hariyali Teej. Extra police force has been deployed at all crossings to help clear up traffic congestion and keep an eye on antisocial activities. Vehicles coming from the Mathura side will be stopped at Pagal Baba ashram. Parking spots have been facilitated in the area for outsiders.
Pani Ghat parking will be closed this time due to the increase in Yamuna water levels, which flows beside it. Vehicles entering the city from the Delhi-Agra highway (NH2) will be parked at the designated places near Mata Vaishno Devi temple at Chatikara.
A temporary parking place at Rumini Vihar has also been created to accommodate more vehicles, which will be connected to the city by e-rickshaw and auto rickshaw.
This ban for Hariyali Teej will last until Friday evening, but it has been decided that the weekend ban will be started again as a regular practice.
Anti-chain-snatching and anti-pickpocket squads have also been deployed around Thakur Bankey Bihari, Radha Damodar, Radha Shyam Sundar, Radha Raman, Radha Gopinath, Radha Madan Mohan, Radha Gokulanand, Radha Govind Dev, and the Krishna Balaram temple, and at other major city spots. Policemen in civil dress and women police officers have also been deployed as an extra precaution.
Festival passes were distributed to all policemen today at Fogla Ashram. Police Station in-charge Munish Chandra said that no outside vehicle will be allowed during this time. Two-wheelers from outside will also be limited from entering the city.
