When Krishna was tied by Gopis at Barsana

Barsana 2016.09.13 (VT): Budi Leela Mahotsav started in Barsana yesterday, by organising a series of dramas showcasing the pastimes of Radha and Krishna. During the leela, Lord Krishna became bondage of Gopis, reflecting that even Lord is a prisoner of those who have pure heart.

Showcasing the pastimes, Lord Krishna entered Sankari Khor at Bramhachal hill, which is a private place of Radha Rani. When Gopis came to know about this intrusion by Shri Krishna, they tied his hairs to a tree and beaten him by a cane.

Lord Krishna pleaded Radha Rani and other Gopis to release him as he entered the place by mistake. During the leela, the poems by Shripati Bhatt were used by Shri Krishna normalise the mood of Radha Rani. This leela is widely known as “Choti Bandhan Leela” of Lord Krishna. Harish Chetriya also told the family tree of Radha and Krishna after the leela was over.

Makhan Chori leela at main market, Ras leela at Nagji Kuti, Mayur leela at Radha Rani temple, Nritya leela at Swami Ji and Daan leela at dangarh were also organised before the Choti Bandhan leela. Brijan Swami, Fatte and their team presented all these “Budhi Leela’s” (old times of Lord) in Barsana yesterday.
