Chatthi festival of Radha Rani at Radha Vallabh temple

Vrindavan 2016.09.15 (VT): Chatthi festival (sixth day of birth) of Radha Rani was celebrated exuberantly at Radha Vallabh temple in Vrindavan, beside other major temples. Sants from all over India visited the temple to sing sohar (songs sung during birth) followed by special maha-arti of Radha Rani. Samaj Gayan (a traditional style of classical singing) and classical dance was also performed by many devotees during the celebration.

Sewayats dressed Thakur Ji and Radha Rani in special dresses before the traditional style celebration began yesterday at Radha Vallabh temple. Special worshipping was done yesterday followed by maha-arti and Prasad distribution to devotees. Sants and Goswamis sang classical bhajan and songs to mark the birth of Radha Rani, congratulating Vrishbhanu Baba and Kirtida Mataji.

Akhil Bhartiya Nirmohi Akhara celebrated the chatthi festival at Bara Ras Mandal under the guidance of Mahant Laldli Sharan Maharaj. Shri Rakesh Lal (Head of Radha vallabh community) along with others glorified Radha Rani and did samaj gayan singing the pastime of the Goddess, well supported by musical instrument players. Sants, Goswamis and other devotees also joined them later on which felt like reliving the pastimes of Radha Rani in Vrindavan.

Mahant Phuldol Bihari Das said that Radha Rani was born to serve Krishna and she was his greatest devotee. Goswami Manoj Kumar said that 5,000 years old pastimes of Radha Rani tell us about the importance of having a daughter, whcih is being promoted today by the “beti bachao bet padhao” campaign of Central Government. Baba Rasik Madhav said that Radha and Krishna are inseparable and they are one single entity in reality.

Stampede at Barsana during Prasad distribution

Barsana 2016.09.15 (VT): A major tragedy was saved yesterday by the swift action from volunteers, villagers and Police, as stampede occurred at Barsana yesterday during Budhi Leela Mahotsasv at Sankari Gali area.

During the drama, when the child enacting as Shri Krishna broke the clay pot to distribute “makhan-mishri” prasad, audience started competing each other to get it first. Soon enough the situation took the shape of stampede with many sants and other devotees falling and being crushed by the mob.

As soon as the volunteers heard the helping shouts, they started clearing the mob with the help of police men deployed for security. Many villagers too came for the help which saved any casualty. Though cloths of many sants and other devotees were torn during as the mob crushed them.
