Month long water logging resulted in mass protest at Mathura

Mathura 2016.09.15 (VT): Road connecting Narsi Vihar and Shivpuri are water logged from the past one month since it has rained last. Local residents of the area have filed their complaint many times with the Municipal Corporation raising concerns about diseases like dengu and chikungunya but noo action has been taken by the department yet. As a result, people have finally come on street to mark their protest against the slow and poor management.

The affected area has Om Nagar society, Hari Vatika, Maya Colony, RK Puram etc colonies within its boundaries. A month back, the drainage system was damaged in these areas due to which rain water got no outlet and has water logged the societies since then.

Indian Youth Welfare Association held a protest yesterday to appeal the Government for taking action against water logging soon as this is causing health hazards, besides troubling residents to walk on street and cross the roads. The protest was held on Mathura-Saunkh road at Transport Nagar. Association and residents of the affected colonies protested against the city administration, Mathura Municipal Corporation and people’s representative, who are also not taking any initiative to get the solution soon.

Association’s chairman Raju Chaudhary warned the city administration of bitter consequences should the problem doesn’t get resolved soon. He also threatened a mass boycott of upcoming assembly elections.
