Vrindavan 2019.09.19 (VT): Vrindavan Chandrodaya temple is set to have a stronger foundation than that of Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building at 830 metres. The temple is the world’s tallest temple under-construction at Vrindavan. At cost of Rs. 700 crores, it will be one of the most expensively built temples in world by ISKCON. The temple has a footprint of about 5 acres and rises to a height of about 700 feet (213 meters or 70 floors) and a built-up area of 5,40,000 sq. Ft.

Senior Vice President and Chief Project Director Narsimha Das said that the foundation of this tall temple will be deeper than that of Burj Khalifa, in order to provide a stonger base capable of sustaining any natural calamity. He further said that the foundation will be 55 feet deep in comparison to Burj Khalifa which have a 50 feet deep foundation. The foundation will have a total of 511 columns, out of which 140 are already constructed and rest will be completed by March 2017.

The temple is planned to be vibrant with festivals and religious activities throughout the year. A look-alike of the verdant forests of Vrindavan will be recreated around this temple. It will be spread over a sprawling 26 acres consisting of the twelve forests (dvadashakanana) of Braj, with varieties of lush vegetation, green pastures, elegant vistas of fruit bearing trees, flower laden creepers serenaded by bird songs, clear water lakes with lotuses and lilies and waterfalls that tumble from small artificial hillocks – all recreated from descriptions in the Srimad Bhagavatam and other source books of Lord Sri Krishna – to transport the visitors to Krishna’s times in Vrindavan.

The project is set in 62 acres of land and will include 12 acres for parking and a helipad, and is expected to finish by the year 2022.
